A series of 10 original pen and ink drawings to illustrate "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan, on pasteboard, some with marginal pencil annotations, each approximately 260 x 150mm., all signed and dated "Edmund Sullivan [19]01" on image; together with a collection of 31 original etchings signed; an original pencil portrait (unsigned); a copy of "A Dream of Fair Women & Other Poems" by Lord Alfred Tennyson, limited to 125 copies signed by the illustrator Edmund Sullivan, one plate loose, Grant Richards, 1900 (collection)<br />

E.J. Sullivan (1869-1933) "established himself as one of the foremost illustrators of his time... he was a superb figure draughtsman... and had a strong and inventive imagination" (Simon Houfe, The Dictionary of 19th Century British Book Illustrators and Caricaturists).<br />

The original drawings were used for the 1901 edition of John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.
